About Us

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District serves the communities of Ontario, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, and portions of Fontana, Upland, Chino, and Mount Baldy. With over 25,000 students, the District is the fourth largest high school district in California. It has eight comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an online high school, a community day school, an adult school, and alternative programs. The District offers a wide variety of instructional options that provide a quality education for each student, every day. The District's well-prepared, dedicated, and highly qualified teachers and support personnel are second to none.

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees are steadfast in the belief that "Nothing is more important than student learning and their achievement."

Our daily purpose encompasses our commitment:
"To provide student learning, and ultimately their achievement, of the prescribed curriculum that takes place in the classroom under the direction of the teacher." The Chaffey District supports this daily act. We realize that our efforts uniquely influence the future of our community and of this nation, and we are passionate about doing whatever it takes to prepare students to be successful and contributing citizens of the 21st century.

The Chaffey District has provided a quality education for high school students in the area since 1911. As the District continues to grow and progress, we are poised to meet the challenge of providing the finest quality education possible for every student.

Welcome to Montclair High School, home of the Cavaliers!

Welcome to the upcoming 2025-2026 school year!  I hope that these summer months have allowed time for some rest and relaxation.  We are excited for your return to campus for the first day of fall semester on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025.  Our school theme for the 2025–2026 academic year is “CAVS Connect”, reflecting our commitment to fostering meaningful connections across our four pillars: Academics, Activities, Athletics, and the Arts. We are excited about the opportunities this year holds and look forward to supporting every student on their journey toward success.

At Montclair High School, our mission is to graduate students who are fully prepared for college and careers. We are proud to offer a high-quality educational experience that equips students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. Our school has earned numerous accolades, including recognition as an AVID National Demonstration School, a California Department of Education Gold Ribbon School, a CSBA Golden Bell Award recipient, a U.S. News & World Report Silver Medal School, and a Title I Academic Achievement School. These honors reflect the strength of our programs and the dedication of our staff.

We offer a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP), Honors, and Dual Enrollment courses, supported by a comprehensive, schoolwide AVID curriculum. These rigorous academic opportunities challenge our students and prepare them for postsecondary success. One of our key focus areas is increasing the number of students who meet one or more College and Career Indicators as outlined on the California School Dashboard. This includes helping more students meet A–G requirements for college eligibility and graduate with strong TCELL skillsTechnical, Career Exploration, Employability, Learning, and Life—to ensure they are career-ready.

Regular school attendance and consistent study habits are essential for academic success. Students are expected to arrive on time, be prepared with necessary materials—including their school-issued Chromebooks—and engage fully in their learning. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to stay connected by registering for ParentSquare, Canvas, and AERIES Parent Portal. These platforms provide valuable tools for monitoring student progress, communicating with staff, and receiving important updates from our administration.

For additional information, including school policies, procedures, bell schedules, and key dates, please visit our school website at https://mhs.cjuhsd.net/.  The site is updated regularly and serves as a helpful resource throughout the year.

We look forward to an amazing school year filled with growth, achievement, and connection.

Go CAVS!
