About Us

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District serves the communities of Ontario, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, and portions of Fontana, Upland, Chino, and Mount Baldy. With over 25,000 students, the District is the fourth largest high school district in California. It has eight comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an online high school, a community day school, an adult school, and alternative programs. The District offers a wide variety of instructional options that provide a quality education for each student, every day. The District's well-prepared, dedicated, and highly qualified teachers and support personnel are second to none.

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees are steadfast in the belief that "Nothing is more important than student learning and their achievement."

Our daily purpose encompasses our commitment:
"To provide student learning, and ultimately their achievement, of the prescribed curriculum that takes place in the classroom under the direction of the teacher." The Chaffey District supports this daily act. We realize that our efforts uniquely influence the future of our community and of this nation, and we are passionate about doing whatever it takes to prepare students to be successful and contributing citizens of the 21st century.

The Chaffey District has provided a quality education for high school students in the area since 1911. As the District continues to grow and progress, we are poised to meet the challenge of providing the finest quality education possible for every student.

Principal's Message

Portrait of Lino Gomez
Montclair High School Cavaliers,

This school year is off to an incredible start, thanks to the dedication of our staff and the leadership of our amazing students. The 2025–26 school year is shaping up to be our best yet, and we remain committed to preparing our students for their road ahead!

At Montclair High School, we live out our school theme — CAVS Connect: Academics, Activities, the Arts, and Athletics — ensuring every student has the opportunity to grow, achieve, and belong.

Academics
We provide a wide range of academic supports to ensure our students have the tools they need to succeed. These efforts align with our schoolwide vision: “All students at Montclair will graduate ready for college and career.” Our focus on improving college readiness includes increasing A–G completion rates, expanding the number of students completing a CTE Pathway, growing the number of students earning the Seal of Biliteracy, and reducing freshman failure rates. We also aim to build on the positive growth demonstrated in statewide CAASPP assessments for English, Math, and Science. Our commitment to enhancing classroom instruction, combined with a variety of academic support programs, helps every student thrive. Additionally, our Peer Counseling and Reach Out programs provide essential mental health resources that further strengthen academic success.

Activities
With a wide range of clubs, organizations, and leadership opportunities, there truly is something for everyone at Montclair.  These activities not only enrich the high school experience but also foster leadership, responsibility, and community spirit.

The Arts
From our award-winning VAPA programs to our inspiring performances, Montclair’s artists are leaders in creativity and expression.  Our music ensembles, theater productions, and visual arts programs provide students with opportunities to showcase their talents, explore new forms of expression, and connect with others through the power of the arts.

Athletics
Our Cavaliers continue to shine on the field, court, and track. Athletics at Montclair are more than competition — they are about teamwork, discipline, and pride. Whether you’re wearing the Cavalier colors in CIF competition or cheering from the stands, our sports programs bring our community together and teach lessons that last a lifetime.

As we settle into the school year, I want to remind our Cavaliers that Hard Work Pays Off!  Our staff is dedicated to guiding you toward your dreams, but success begins with you — arriving to school every day on time, completing your assignments, and striving for a C or higher in every class.  Embrace the Cavalier mindset: take ownership of your learning, demonstrate grit in the face of challenges, and seek help early when needed.  We also remain committed to treating one another with kindness and avoiding any language that is hurtful.  Preparing all of our students to be college and career ready includes using words that uplift, encourage, and support one another.

Parents, your partnership is essential. Please emphasize the importance of daily attendance, maintain open communication with teachers, and monitor grades regularly through Canvas.  Be sure to set up your ParentSquare account and app to receive timely school updates.  For more resources, visit the Parent Resources tab on our website.

Montclair High School is a place where Academics, Activities, the Arts, and Athletics come together to create a vibrant, supportive, and inspiring community.  Together, we will make this year truly exceptional.

Go CAVS!
